Time for a little rant!!!
I keep hearing this said about Hyperrealism on my Facebook page:
‘Why bother if it looks exactly like a photograph’ or ‘It’s not art, it’s just copying’
Here’s my take on it. First of all, there’s a big clue in the first part of the title ‘Hyperrealism’, it’s the word ‘hyper’.
In short, the idea is that the original photograph is intensified through the artists interpretation and rendering process, allowing the artist to change values and elements to create a new reality. Paul Cadden puts it perfectly … ‘Intensify the norm
